This product contains fresh, high-quality Gyokuro tea leaves that are carefully grown in the tea plantations of Ujitawara, Kyoto.
The trick to enjoying it to the fullest is to brew it with low-temperature water, around 50-60°C.
We also recommend cold-brewed gyokuro. Simply brew it in cold water and leave it overnight to enjoy the most delicious gyokuro.
One packet will last for 2-3 infusions.

Enjoy the sweetness and umami of this high-quality gyokuro tea from Ujitawara, Kyoto

The fresh, high-quality Gyokuro tea leaves, carefully grown in the tea gardens of Ujitawara, Kyoto, have a slightly sweet, luxurious taste with a savory flavor similar to that of dashi. Please enjoy the sweetness and umami that are unique to Gyokuro.

Gyokuro is a tea that can be enjoyed for its umami and sweetness, which are the result of the unique way the tea leaves are grown.

This method, called covered cultivation, involves covering the tea fields with shading materials such as traditional reed screens or straw, or more recently black film, for around 20 days when 2-3 new buds begin to open, blocking out sunlight.

This prevents the umami component theanine from converting into the astringent component catechin through photosynthesis, resulting in gyokuro that is full of umami and sweetness.
This luxurious flavor is only possible thanks to the time and effort that goes into growing them.
